San Francisco, CA – February 11, 2025 – Evergreen Financial Technology Group (EFTG), a fintech collective dedicated to the development of mission-critical software for financial institutions, announced today the appointment of David Dean as Head of M&A. Dean will lead EFTG’s acquisition strategy, focusing on identifying and integrating best-in-class fintech businesses that serve credit unions and community banks.
A Strategic Leader in Fintech M&A
Dean brings extensive experience in corporate development, strategic investments, and post-acquisition value creation, having spent more than a decade working with founder-led fintech businesses to drive long-term growth. He has successfully sourced, structured, and executed acquisitions, applying a disciplined investment strategy focused on small to medium sized vertical market software businesses.
Most recently, Dean served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Investment Officer at CUSG, where he was responsible for leading high-impact M&A initiatives, forming strategic partnerships, and overseeing portfolio company growth. His work included developing and implementing a value creation playbook that enabled fintech businesses to scale efficiently post-acquisition, an approach that closely aligns with EFTG’s investment philosophy.
“David’s track record in fintech M&A, combined with his ability to align investment strategy with long-term business success, makes him the ideal leader for this role,” said Steffi Decker, CEO of EFTG. “His deep expertise and relationships in the financial technology sector and his ability to work closely with founders and executive teams will be invaluable as we expand our ecosystem of world-class fintech businesses.”
Driving EFTG’s Long-Term Investment Vision
Dean has cultivated a robust network of fintech founders, private equity professionals, and financial institution executives, positioning him to identify and execute acquisitions that align with EFTG’s strategy. His approach prioritizes transparency, quick decisions, and helping founders achieve their transaction goals while preserving their legacy and empowering their employees and management teams.
“EFTG’s investment philosophy aligns perfectly with my own approach to M&A—focusing on long-term growth and preserving company cultures,” said David Dean, Head of M&A at EFTG. “I look forward to working with fintech founders who are looking for the right home for their businesses, one where their legacy, teams and clients continue to grow and prosper with the support of a strategic partner that deeply understands their industry.”
Since its first acquisition in 2020, EFTG has built a trusted portfolio of software businesses supporting community financial institutions, including Sharetec, Lodestar Technologies, Global Wave Group, and Infonancial Solutions. EFTG’s success is driven by a decentralized operating model, enhanced by the strategic placement of top talent in key leadership roles. These executives benefit from a connected network of peers across EFTG’s portfolio, fostering shared insights and collaboration that strengthen each business. With Dean leading M&A, EFTG is positioned to accelerate its growth strategy and expand its investment in top-tier fintech companies shaping the future of community banking.
